Study#1: Breakthrough Parry Organic Spirulina Protein Digestibility Study (1)
An in vitro study compared the digestibility of Parry Organic Spirulina protein to that of pea protein and whey protein isolates, and it was shown that:
- Parry Organic Spirulina rapidly releases free Amino Acids as early as the oral phase
- There is a higher release of bioactive smaller peptides as compared to pea and whey proteins

Study#2: Breakthrough Parry Organic Spirulina Gut Health Study (2)
In the second phase of the research, an in vivo study investigated Parry Organic Spirulina’s effects on gut health:
- It modulated gut microbiota through higher counts of ‘friendly’ Lactobacilli spp. and Bifidobacterium spp. bacteria, and fewer harmful Clostridium spp. bacteria
- It elevated gut levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10, which could signify an increase in anti-inflammatory macrophages. In the study, the IL-10 levels rose from 108 units (control) and 280 (Negative control) to 6,483 units for the subjects which had supplementation
- It helped maintain normal villi structure and architecture, indicative of a well-functioning gut with good gut-barrier integrity
