Marvel Treks & Expedition has issued a travel advisory following severe flooding in Nepal's Rasuwa district, outlining disruptions to Langtang trekking, the Kerung route for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, and support measures for affected travelers.

-- KATHMANDU, Nepal – Sept 1, 2026 – Marvel Treks & Expedition has released an official statement following the severe flooding that struck Nepal's Rasuwa district, affecting key transportation corridors used for Langtang trekking and the overland Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via the Kerung (Rasuwagadhi) border crossing.

According to the company, the flooding caused significant damage to roads, bridges, settlements, and other infrastructure in the Timure and Syabrubesi areas before extending downstream through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems. Authorities continue assessing conditions while search, rescue, and relief operations remain underway. The exact cause of the flooding has not yet been officially confirmed, and Marvel Treks encourages travelers to rely on verified information from government authorities.

The company noted that Syabrubesi, the primary gateway to the Langtang Valley Trek, Gosaikunda, and Tamang Heritage Trail, has been directly affected. As a precaution, Marvel Treks has suspended new departures to the Langtang region while maintaining contact with guides, lodges, and trekking teams already in the area. Travelers with upcoming bookings are being offered rescheduling options or alternative itineraries in unaffected trekking regions where appropriate.

The flood has also disrupted access to the Rasuwagadhi–Kerung border crossing, an important overland route for pilgrims traveling to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. Marvel Treks confirmed that departures using the Kerung route have been paused pending official confirmation from Nepali and Chinese authorities that the route is safe and operational. The company is also evaluating alternative routing options, including the Nepalgunj–Simikot–Hilsa route, where feasible.

"Considering the rapidly developing flood situation in Rasuwa and the downstream Trishuli corridor, we are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant stakeholders," said Ashim Kumar Lamsal, Managing Director of Marvel Treks & Expedition. "Our priority is the safety of local communities, travelers, and everyone working in the affected areas."

Marvel Treks also welcomed the Nepal National Mountain Guides Association's standby rescue announcement and said it is coordinating with local guides, tourism organizations, and emergency response stakeholders as conditions continue to evolve. The company advises travelers to avoid affected areas, follow instructions issued by local authorities, and contact Marvel Treks directly for updated travel information, itinerary changes, and safety guidance.
