-- On August 8, 2026, the Community Emergency Response Partnership International Project – Indonesia (CERP IHA-Indonesia), colaunched by SANY Foundation, China Merchants Foundation, Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation, and Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), successfully concluded its disaster preparedness training.
Located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, Indonesia faces frequent earthquakes, floods, and landslides, yet local communities often lack skills to respond in the critical "golden hours" when residents and volunteers are the first on the scene. The project introduced a standardized curriculum derived from SANY's operational experience, adapted to local hazards, to provide training that is both practical and transferable.
Launched on July 26 in partnership with Indonesia's National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), the program delivered eight sessions across Jakarta, Karawang, Yogyakarta, and Tangerang, training 400 community leaders – including school staff, residents, religious students, and women's group members. The curriculum covered disaster preparedness, firefighting, CPR, trauma care, and scenario drills for earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions, with over 70% handson practice. Participants, including school principals and company staff, praised the training for its practicality and immediate applicability.
KH. Yahya Cholil Staquf, Chairman of PBNU, noted that while the organization's volunteer network spans the archipelago, they have long lacked professional rescue skills – a gap this partnership effectively fills. All participants who passed assessments received certificates, with outstanding trainees earning additional honors. These trained leaders will now strengthen grassroots emergency response and encourage broader community involvement.
As a global construction machinery leader with deep roots in Indonesia, SANY has demonstrated its heavy equipment advantage in past disasters – during the Sumatra floods and West Java landslide, it deployed 13 excavators for two weeks across 21 villages, benefiting over 540,000 people. The training also reached SANY's local employees, equipping them with practical skills in fire safety, first aid, and evacuation procedures. The company plans to hold regular sessions to ensure consistent emergency readiness.
The initiative integrates government coordination, corporate empowerment, NGO implementation, and community participation. Looking ahead, SANY intends to promote this communitybased training model to more regions, contributing to stronger regional resilience.
