-- AirAsia named Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline for the 14th time and Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew for the 10th year in a row
AirAsia has once again cemented its position as Asia’s leading low-cost airline, taking home two top honours at the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026 held in Maldives last night. AirAsia was named Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline 2026 for the 14th time and Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew 2026 for the 10th consecutive year, further strengthening its longstanding leadership in affordable air travel and service excellence.

With an extensive network of more than 130 destinations across Asia, Australia and beyond, alongside continuous service innovation, AirAsia continues to strengthen its position as Southeast Asia’s leading low-cost airline, connecting more cities and communities across the region and beyond. As AirAsia celebrates 25 years of connecting people and places, it has flown close to one billion guests to date, reflecting the scale of its network and the trust built with travellers over the years. Through continued network expansion and strategic partnerships, AirAsia remains focused on strengthening regional and international connectivity and making travel more accessible to millions of travellers.
Suhaila Hassan, AirAsia Group Head of Cabin Crew, said: “This recognition is a great honour for AirAsia and our cabin crew, whose professionalism, dedication and genuine care define the AirAsia experience. We believe affordable air travel should always come with great hospitality and attentive service. Our hijab option for female cabin crew also reflects our commitment to inclusivity and empowering our people to be themselves. This award celebrates our Allstars and the trust of millions of guests as AirAsia continues to strengthen its network. As the dominant carrier at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), accounting for 34% of flights, our connectivity has helped KUL maintain its position as the world’s fourth most connected international megahub and No. 1 low-cost megahub in OAG’s 2026 Megahubs Index.”
Graham E. Cooke, President & Founder of World Travel Awards, said: “Congratulations to AirAsia on this outstanding double achievement at the World Travel Awards 2026. These accolades recognise AirAsia’s leadership in low-cost travel, continued innovation, strong connectivity and commitment to delivering a memorable guest experience. This success is a testament to the dedication of its people and their role in making air travel more accessible across Asia and beyond.”
For more than three decades, the World Travel Awards has recognised excellence across the global travel and tourism industry. Winners are determined through votes from travel-industry professionals and consumers worldwide, reflecting both industry recognition and traveller trust. This latest recognition further reinforces AirAsia’s leadership in low-cost travel, driven by its strong connectivity, innovation and focus on delivering great value and service to travellers.
