-- Transformational Wellness, alongside The Power of ONE, will launch its inaugural Bay Area Wellness Week in San Francisco from September 16–20, bringing together community wellness programs and a humanitarian fundraising effort focused on Cambodia. The week will culminate in a fundraising gala on September 19, with founder Chanra Hai positioning the initiative as a long-term model for connecting local wellness with international humanitarian action
Hai notes that the initiative was created around an immediate community need: making wellness more accessible while giving local organizations a practical way to participate in humanitarian work. She is seeking participation from civic partners, healthcare providers, businesses, nonprofits, community leaders, and churches as Transformational Wellness establishes its first annual Wellness Week.
“We all need healing right now,” Hai says. “We all need some type of wellness outlet.” She says the initiative is particularly concerned with creating spaces where children, families, and other community members can access wellness resources in an environment designed around participation and connection.
Programs, Hai explains, will run across five days in San Francisco, with each day addressing a different dimension of community wellbeing. Wednesday will focus on wellness programs, followed by Therapeutic Thursday. Friday will take a family-oriented approach, with artists and practitioners contributing programming designed to engage children, teenagers, parents, teachers, and first responders.
Saturday will place greater emphasis on seniors. Transformational Wellness is partnering with Borp to bring trikes into the program, allowing older residents to ride comfortably while encouraging movement and social participation. The week will conclude on Sunday with church, followed by a community picnic where participants and contributors will be recognized. Tennis and bowling activities are also planned.
Hai says the program is intended to give residents an opportunity to experience the organization’s work directly. “I really want to drive people to the wellness space where people can actually learn about what we do, hands-on,” she says. The fundraising gala will be promoted throughout the week, with September 19 carrying additional significance for Hai as her birthday and a date she has chosen to use for an annual act of giving.
The humanitarian component will direct attention toward Cambodia, where Hai notes that displaced families affected by border tensions have faced difficulties accessing bare-minimum necessities, including clean water, sanitation, and food. She notes that the initiative’s initial objective is to help establish a center providing essential resources, with other welfare organizations expected to contribute humanitarian and infrastructure expertise alongside local churches, organizations, and community leadership.
Hai intends to purchase the property herself to help maintain oversight of the project, while a team with longstanding relationships in Cambodia will support its development. She adds that the model is designed to demonstrate how a sustainable wellness and humanitarian center could operate and potentially inform future expansion.”
Transformational Wellness is now seeking additional organizations and sponsors aligned with its mission as it builds toward the September launch. Her longer-term ambition, she notes, is to make Wellness Week an annual initiative and eventually develop the model in additional cities.
Hai extends the invitation widely. “My specialty is wellness,” she says. “I bring wellness to the table for everybody, not just one ethnicity.” Businesses, nonprofits, healthcare providers, and community leaders interested in joining Bay Area Wellness Week or supporting the Cambodia initiative are invited to connect with Transformational Wellness ahead of the September 16 launch. According to Hai, the first San Francisco edition represents a starting point, with a locally rooted wellness initiative designed to show how community participation can support humanitarian work.
