-- The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) and China Resources Longdation (CR Longdation) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The partnership will combine the telecommunications infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions of Towngas Telecommunications Fixed Network Limited (TGT), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Towngas, with CR Longdation’s extensive property portfolio and asset management strengths. Together, the parties aim to expand their business footprint in energy services and smart living, injecting innovative momentum into urban development.

Senior management from both sides engaged in exchanges focusing on three key themes: green low-carbon transition, digitalisation and smart development, and asset investment with industrial synergy. They explored potential cooperation in areas such as energy-saving retrofits for data centres, the establishment of smart community platforms, innovation in lifestyle value-added services, and applications of big data and AI. Through this collaboration, they aim to promote a demonstration project of synergistic development between a Hong Kong-funded enterprise and a central state-owned enterprise, jointly serving Hong Kong’s social and economic development.

Mr Peter Wong Wai-yee, Managing Director of Towngas, and Mr Edmund Yeung Lui-ming, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Towngas, together with Mr Zhang Wei, Chairman of CR Longdation, and Ms Wan Xuefei, President of CR Longdation, attended the meeting and witnessed the signing of the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement between the parties. Specifically, the parties will initiate cooperation on projects involving integrated energy management for existing properties, green low-carbon retrofitting of data centres, and pilot smart community AI solutions. By sharing resources and integrating technologies, they aim to enhance asset operational efficiency and user service experience, establishing a new model of cross-sector synergy and working together to contribute to the development of new quality productive forces in Hong Kong.

Mr Peter Wong Wai-yee, Managing Director of Towngas, stated: “We are delighted to embark on this deep cooperation with an enterprise as influential as CR Longdation. There is immense space for our complementary strengths, particularly in the fields of smart energy and smart community construction. We look forward to integrating leading AI solutions and stable telecommunications services into more diverse living and commercial scenarios, driving Hong Kong’s realisation of the Climate Action Plan 2050 and co-building a green, smart, and sustainable future.”

Mr Zhang Wei, Chairman of CR Longdation, remarked: “This strategic cooperation with Towngas is a crucial step for CR Longdation in putting into practice the principle of ‘serving the country’s needs, meeting Hong Kong’s expectations, and leveraging the enterprise’s capabilities’. We will base our efforts on our rich resources and professional platform in Hong Kong, taking technological innovation and green development as key entry points. Together with our excellent partners, we will promote the cultivation of new quality productive forces in Hong Kong, creating a higher quality living experience for citizens and achieving long-term value co-creation.”
