-- South East London artist and published poet Nathan McAdam Freud has been named the highest-achieving fundraiser for the Beer-Harris Memorial Trust (BHMT), raising tens of thousands of pounds through Ironman competitions and charitable oil painting exhibitions, with 50 percent of all exhibition profits donated directly to the charity.

Nathan McAdam Freud, CEO of FreudInc Ltd, has completed Ironman events every year since leaving rehabilitation, running each race with a JustGiving fundraising page attached and directing every penny to charity. His events have included Nottingham twice, Pembrokeshire Tenby, the European Championships in Hamburg, and Lanzarote. On September 12, 2026, he will compete in the Ironman Extreme at Black Lake, Montenegro, with a current fundraising target of £3,000. A charitable exhibition at Morocco Bound in Wandsworth will accompany the race, with 50 percent of proceeds going directly to BHMT.
The Beer-Harris Memorial Trust is a mental health charity established in honour of two men: the son of BHMT's late chairman Roy, who died at 21 in a car accident in Africa, and Nathan's godfather, a psychiatrist who died of cancer after spending his career supporting people with acute mental illness. The charity funds projects addressing male suicide, homelessness, eating disorders, and community reintegration for people with mental health difficulties.
"They give me substance," Nathan said of his work with BHMT. "It makes me different to other artists, just that act of active giving. It gives me meaning, it gives me reason to keep going."
The fundraising model runs in parallel with Nathan's art market performance. His oil impasto paintings have appreciated 3,900 percent over seven years, and his flagship piece, Life Works, whose detail appears on the cover of his published poetry collection, has recorded a 199,900 percent value increase since its first sale. The first auction sale, which went to Nigel Ford, the highest bidder at a private charitable auction, sold for approximately £2,995, with 50 percent donated to charity on the day.
Nathan received a Global Recognition Award in 2026, selected from more than 15,000 entrants worldwide, with fewer than six percent of candidates recognised. Exhibitions are planned at Morocco Bound in Wandsworth, with international shows under consideration in Ibiza, Japan, Paris, and the United States.
"I want him to be part of the story," Nathan said of his late friend and fellow rehabilitation resident David Skinner, a soldier from Inverness whose gift of pens and paints marked the beginning of Nathan's creative practice. "He will never be forgotten."
