-- Level Code, an AI-native coding editor created by software engineer and founder Sergii Demianchuk, has officially launched with a model designed to give developers greater flexibility in how they access AI-assisted software development tools.
Built for software engineers who incorporate AI into their day-to-day coding workflows, Level Code provides an alternative to traditional and subscription-based AI coding environments. The platform allows users to bring their own API keys from supported AI providers and use those models directly within the Level Code editor without requiring an additional Level Code subscription.
The platform was created from Demianchuk’s own experience as a developer. After years of working with different coding environments and becoming frustrated by the constantly changing landscape of development editors, he decided to build an AI-native editor that he could continue using himself.
In fact, Level Code was developed using Level Code itself, allowing its creator to test and refine the platform through real-world software development.
“Instead of continuing to look for yet another editor, I decided to create my own,” says Demianchuk. “I wanted something that would not simply disappear or require me to constantly move to another platform.”
Level Code is designed around an agentic development workflow, allowing developers to integrate AI into their everyday coding process rather than treating artificial intelligence as a separate or occasional tool.
The platform is currently available for Apple Silicon Mac computers, with additional platform support potentially planned as demand develops.
Level Code is initially focused on building its freemium user community, with the company targeting 1,000 users within its first one to three months and 10,000 within three to six months.
The company is specifically targeting software engineers who code regularly and want to use AI as an active development partner throughout their workflow.
According to Demianchuk, one of the biggest opportunities facing AI coding platforms is not necessarily the availability of technology, but adoption. Many developers already have access to AI-powered development features but may not yet be using them to their full potential.
Level Code aims to close that gap by providing developers with an environment specifically designed around AI-native development while maintaining flexibility over which AI models they use.
The platform is now live and available for developers interested in exploring its approach to AI-assisted coding.
