-- The Knowledge Structuring Model (KSM™) unifies AEO, GEO, and knowledge graph theory into a single measurable framework — now available as a live assessment platform for marketers and AI strategists.

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini, and Claude now handle billions of queries a month, and a typical AI-generated answer cites only two to seven sources. That compression has quietly rewritten the competitive landscape for brand visibility: a company that dominates page one of Google may not appear once in an AI-generated answer about its own category. Traditional SEO metrics — rankings, impressions, domain authority — don't translate directly into AI citation performance.
KSMModel.ai (https://ksmmodel.ai ) has launched to address that gap. Founded by Dr. Anthony Q. Bowen, the platform turns his research framework, the Knowledge Structuring Model (KSM™), into a live assessment tool that helps organizations measure and improve how they are understood, cited, and surfaced by AI systems.
“The terminology in this space — AEO, GEO, LLMO, AI SEO — has proliferated faster than the theory behind it,” said Dr. Bowen. “The KSM was designed to give practitioners a rigorous foundation: not just tactics, but a model that explains why some brands get cited and others don’t, and what to do about it. The question is no longer only whether a company ranks on a search results page — it’s whether AI systems can understand the company, connect it to the right entities, and cite it as a credible source.”
A Framework Grounded in Three Measurable Constructs
KSM™ expresses AI visibility as:
AI Visibility = f(Structured Extractability × Entity Salience × Citation Authority)
● Structured Extractability — the degree to which content is architected for machine parsing and retrieval. Schema markup, semantic density, and self-contained answer units determine whether an AI system can cleanly extract a claim to cite it.
● Entity Salience — how strongly a brand or individual is recognized as a distinct entity within AI knowledge graphs, driven by co-citation patterns, third-party validation, and consistent naming across platforms.
● Citation Authority — the accumulated trust signals (domain reputation, author credentials, institutional affiliation, citation networks) that lead AI systems to preferentially surface a source. In an AI-first environment, citation authority is the new domain authority.
The framework also introduces AI-native measurement metrics — including Share of Model (SoM), citation frequency, and entity recognition rate — to replace legacy KPIs that no longer capture performance in generative search environments.
The underlying research paper, Knowledge Structuring Model (KSM™): A Socio-Technical Framework for AI Visibility, is available at no cost on SSRN (ssrn.com/abstract=6721140). KSMModel.ai now operationalizes that research: organizations can run a live assessment, get a scored breakdown across all three pillars, and get a prioritized path to improvement — turning AI visibility from a theoretical construct into a measurable, manageable strategic asset.
