The foundation of that reputation, however, was built long before her real estate career began. In 2016, Roo Parag was diagnosed with liver cancer and given six months to live. At the time, her four children were still young, and she found herself reflecting on the milestones she hoped to experience alongside them. During that difficult period, she made a promise to pursue the goals and passions she had set aside while raising her family. One of those goals was becoming a Realtor.
Determined not to let her diagnosis define her future, Roo completed her real estate coursework from her bed, passed both her state and national exams, and earned her license. What began as a personal goal during one of the most challenging chapters of her life eventually became a career centered on helping others through some of their own important life transitions.
Today, nearly a decade later, that experience continues to shape the way she approaches both business and life.
“My career is about building relationships, not real estate,” Roo said. “The relationships and trust need to be there for a transaction to be authentic for every client.”
That philosophy is reflected in the relationships she maintains long after a transaction closes. Many of her clients remain part of her life years later. Some invite her to birthday parties, housewarming celebrations, and family events. One of her earliest clients first worked with her as a rental client and has since purchased a home, grown their family, and continues to rely on her for real estate guidance. For Roo, those relationships represent the true measure of success.
Her commitment to clients has earned recognition throughout her career, including being named Agent of the Year within her brokerage in 2025 and being recognized as a Delaware Today Top Realtor. Yet those accomplishments tell only part of the story.
