In addition, at the meeting, held last month and organized by Family Enterprise USA, saw executives from family-owned businesses and family offices meet with Rep. Carol Miller (R-West Virginia), as well as other family businesses leaders from across the country.

Tax & Legislation Updates
During the meeting, legislative, tax, and political updates were given by experts Mark Warren and Russ Sullivan, both shareholders at the law and government affairs firm, Brownstein, and by experts Caren Street, Partner, and Michael Hawthorne, Associate, at the law and government affairs firm of Squire Patton Boggs.
The meetings top discussion points centered on how Congress can help family businesses sustain their business from generation to generation, combat the potential "war on success,” and the importance of transition businesses from generation to generation.
The meeting also included a “What Now?” presentation from political and communications consultant Dr. Frank Luntz and concluded with a presentation on “Family Business Tax Concerns” by Bobby Stover, Americas Family Enterprise, and Family Office Leader for EY.
“This was our most well-attended meeting of the year and demonstrates the continued growing interest in how important it is to educate Congress on the importance of family businesses, and their issues, to our economy,” said Soldano. “Family Enterprise USA and Policy and Taxation Group provides a strong voice in Washington, D.C., for family businesses, family offices, and successful families and we help raise awareness for the largest private employer and greatest generator of jobs we have in this country,” she said. “It’s important Congress understands the many tax and economic policies that hurt, often unintentionally, family businesses of all sizes.”
