Realness Institute Marks 10 Years of Advancing Independent Film and Television Storytelling Across Africa
Realness Institute is marking 10 years of supporting independent film and television creators across Africa. The milestone reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening creative careers through professional development, mentorship, and industry collaboration. Since its founding, the nonprofit has worked alongside writers, producers, and other screen professionals to help them develop original projects while building the skills, relationships, and practical knowledge needed to navigate the evolving film and television landscape. The anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the institute’s journey and the vision that inspired its creation. While discussions about economic growth frequently focus on traditional industries, the creative sector also contributes to employment, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange. Recognizing the importance of accessible career pathways into the arts, Realness Institute was established to help independent artists develop sustainable careers while bringing distinctive African stories to audiences through film and television. That vision was shaped by the experiences of Managing Director Mehret Mandefro, whose career has brought together medicine, filmmaking, and public service. After beginning her filmmaking journey while completing her medical residency, Mandefro came to view storytelling as a way to foster understanding, encourage dialogue, and create opportunities for artists. Her work in developing film and television productions, training emerging professionals, and contributing to initiatives focused on the creative economy informed the principles that continue to guide the institute today. “Creative industries thrive when artists have opportunities to strengthen both their craft and their careers,” says Mandefro. “From the beginning, our focus has been on creating spaces where independent filmmakers and television creators can refine their work, build meaningful professional relationships, and continue growing as storytellers.” Since its establishment, Realness Institute has developed programs that support creators at different stages of their professional journeys. The RLNS Screenwriters Residency provides dedicated space for feature film writers to transform treatments into completed screenplays. The Authentica African Series Lab supports television writers as they develop original series from concept to pitch, while the Creative Producer Indaba combines project development with business coaching for producers seeking to strengthen both creative and entrepreneurial practice. Together, these initiatives reflect an approach that values artistic development alongside practical industry knowledge. Central to the institute’s philosophy is the belief that every creator brings a unique perspective to the screen. Rather than encouraging a single pathway to success, its programs are designed to help participants identify and strengthen what distinguishes their work. Through mentorship, peer collaboration, and engagement with experienced industry professionals, participants are encouraged to develop projects that remain authentic to their own creative voices while expanding their understanding of the business of film and television. This approach also reflects a broader understanding of the role creative industries can play in supporting economic opportunity. Across Africa, film and television continue to create avenues for employment, entrepreneurship, and collaboration across a wide range of professions. By investing in the professional growth of independent artists, Realness Institute contributes to an ecosystem where creative talent can continue to develop alongside the industries that support it. “Film and television are collaborative art forms, and meaningful careers are built through communities that invest in people as much as projects,” Mandefro states. “Over the past 10 years, we have been fortunate to work with remarkable artists whose dedication continues to shape the future of African storytelling. Their creativity and commitment inspire our work every day.” As Realness Institute continues to grow, it also recognizes the many writers, producers, mentors, creative partners, and alumni who have contributed to its journey. Their collective efforts have helped foster a growing network of professionals committed to thoughtful collaboration, continuous learning, and creative excellence. The institute remains dedicated to training, mentoring, and resourcing independent artists telling courageous stories for film and television. It will continue creating opportunities for creators to develop original work, expand professional networks, and contribute to a dynamic and evolving screen industry across Africa, while remaining guided by the belief that investing in artists is also an investment in the future of the continent’s creative economy.

Youtube's "Our 3 Dads" Become Breakout Stars Of Hulu's "Million Dollar Nannies"
After capturing more than 1 billion views of their heartfelt, funny and unconventional family story social media platforms including YouTube, “Our 3 Dads” have emerged as breakout stars of Hulu’s newest reality series, “Million Dollar Nannies.” “Our 3 Dads” — Mark Ebinger, Mark “Moke” Coffey and Tom Freeman — and their twin 9-year-olds, Beau and Coy, appear in the debut episode of the new Hulu series, which follows eight elite nannies as they travel to Ibiza to launch a luxury nanny agency serving ultra-wealthy families. Produced by the team behind “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” the series blends the high-pressure world of premium childcare with reality TV drama, luxury lifestyles, demanding clients and cast relationships. For “Our 3 Dads,” the episode offers viewers a rare look inside one of America’s most talked-about modern families: three gay fathers raising the twin brother and sister under one roof with humor, honesty and shared responsibility. Ebinger and Freeman were previously married and welcomed their twins through surrogacy. After their divorce, Ebinger married Coffey, and all three men decided to continue raising the twins together as equal co-parents. While their family structure often sparks curiosity, the dads are quick to make one thing clear -- they are not a throuple. They are three fathers committed to creating a stable, loving home for their children. Their appearance on “Million Dollar Nannies” places that family dynamic at the center of the premiere episode as the elite nannies are challenged to adapt to a household that does not fit the traditional mold. The dads serve as a real client family hiring one of the agency’s nannies, testing not only each candidate’s childcare skills, but also their professionalism, flexibility, emotional intelligence and ability to understand the values of an unconventional family. “We’ve always said our family may look different, but what matters most is the love, stability and structure we give our kids,” said Ebinger. “Being part of ‘Million Dollar Nannies’ gave us a chance to show that modern families come in all forms and that the right nanny has to understand the family, not just the job.” Added Coffey, “Childcare is deeply personal. You’re inviting someone into your home, your routines and your children’s lives. For us, it was important to find someone who could respect our dynamic and connect with Beau and Coy.” Freeman shared, “People are often surprised by how well our household works, but we’ve built it around the kids. Everything we do starts with what gives them the most love, support and consistency.” The involvement with Hulu marks another major milestone for “Our 3 Dads,” the breakout family-focused social media series that has generated massive engagement across platforms by redefining what a modern American family can look like. Through candid storytelling, humor and an unapologetically real look at co-parenting, the dads have built a devoted audience drawn to their message that family is defined not by convention, but by commitment. With their debut on “Million Dollar Nannies,” “Our 3 Dads” brings that message to a national streaming audience and proves that their family is not only compelling content, but a reflection of the evolving face of parenthood. https://our3dads.com/ *****

Youth Students Utilize Generative AI to Revive Song Dynasty Aesthetics and Cultural Heritage
The College of Media and International Culture at Zhejiang University today announced the global release of Song Dynasty Romance , a collaborative five-episode artificial intelligence (AI) digital short film series. Co-created by a multinational team of young students from six countries—China, South Korea, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Mongolia, and Ukraine—the project leverages generative AI tools as a creative medium to rediscover the lifestyle aesthetics of China’s Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD) and explore how this thousand-year-old wisdom can inspire contemporary digital life. The series utilizes a cross-cultural dialogue framework, pairing one Chinese student with one international student for each episode. Together, they focus on five micro-artifacts deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Song people: a tea bowl, a warming ewer, a traditional garment, an early banknote, and a cultural seal. Through digital recreation, the creators invite a global audience to experience the profound aesthetic pursuits and philosophies of Chinese culture through ordinary yet authentic daily practices, such as drinking tea, hosting guests, dressing, trading, and reading. Cross-Cultural Dialogues Through Five Micro-Artifacts Each episode of Song Dynasty Romance serves as a bridge connecting history with contemporary reflection through a specific material object: Episode 1: An Art of Living: Jianzhan Tea Bowl Co-created by Chen Xinyu and Bangladesh student Yawen Gu, this episode reconstructs the ancient art of "tea-battling" and "tea whisking opera" , which were highly popular during the Song Dynasty. By capturing the micro-visual contrast between white tea froth and the black glaze of the Jianzhan bowl, the short film reflects the ancient philosophy of "investigating things to extend knowledge" . It portrays the meticulous rituals of tea-drinking, suggesting that even within a single tea bowl, one can perceive an entire universe of focus and mindfulness. Episode 2: Human Temperature: Tangping Ewer Produced by Fang Yinuo and Vietnamese student Thi Xuan Qu, this episode traces the journey of the "Tangping" (a traditional warming ewer) across various social settings—from busy kitchens to refined literati gatherings and vibrant market streets. Used for warming wine and boiling tea, the ewer serves as a metaphor for human connection, waiting, and warmth. The rising steam visually captures a profound slower lifestyle, prompting modern viewers to rethink their pace in a fast-moving society. Episode 3: A Style of Self-Expression: Beizi Garment Created by Jin Qianqian and South Korean student Seungho Liu, this episode centers on the "Beizi," a standard outer garment for women in the Song Dynasty characterized by its straight collar and clean, parallel lines. Viewed through a modern lens, the creators identify the Beizi as a pioneer of minimalism. By placing this traditional attire into the context of today’s algorithm-driven and high-traffic digital society, the episode poses a philosophical question: can modern individuals maintain their own rhythm, living elegantly and authentically just like the people of the Song Dynasty? Episode 4: A Revolution of Trust: Jiaozi Currency Developed by Zhou Linhui and Ukrainian student Kami, the short film uses a first-person narrative delivered by the "Jiaozi," widely recognized as one of the world's earliest paper currencies. The narrative explains how a system of credit allowed wealth to cross mountains and rivers, connecting thousands of distinct lives. The episode emphasizes that from the Song Dynasty to the present day, mutual trust remains the most valuable cornerstone of commercial civilization. Episode 5: A Path of Thought: Seal and Printing Produced by Li Yiyang and Mongolian student Dulan, this final episode explores the evolution of cultural recording, replication, and dissemination through personal seals, woodblock printing, and movable type technology. From the private signatures of literati to the widespread sharing of ideas across the Asian continent, these tools transformed written knowledge from an elite privilege into a shared heritage. The creators guide the audience through this history to highlight the continuous, historical dialogue between Chinese and global civilizations. Cultural Reflection Empowered by Generative AI Workflows A key focus for the research and production team was the industrial workflow of AI-Generated Content (AIGC) in digital cultural creation and international communication. Throughout the creative process, the international student teams translated historical texts, classical poetry, and museum artifact data into precise semantic prompts. Using Large Language Models (LLMs) and advanced multi-modal video generation frameworks, the students managed the entire production pipeline—from scriptwriting and storyboarding to high-fidelity historical scene rendering. This collaborative process successfully resolved the technical challenge of translating classical Chinese cultural nuances into accurate digital visual imagery. According to the international students involved, generative AI tools lowered the language barriers and historical knowledge thresholds that typically complicate cross-cultural projects. The technology allowed creators from diverse backgrounds to collaborate under a unified visual and aesthetic standard, encouraging deeper historical interpretation. Bridging History with Contemporary Well-Being The core philosophy of Song Dynasty Romance is that culture does not merely exist in ancient texts or museum showcases; it survives through daily practices. The project highlights that the Song Dynasty offers valuable insights for modern life: finding beauty in small details, maintaining composure within an organized social structure, and seeking meaning through human connections. The project leader, Prof. Xiao Jian from Zhejiang University commented, "In today’s accelerated world, attempting to understand the lifestyle wisdom of the past is not about escaping reality or simply returning to the antiquity. Instead, it is about discovering timeless wisdom from ordinary daily elements—a cup of tea, a garment, a piece of paper currency—to help us navigate our modern lives with greater clarity and mindfulness." Song Dynasty Romance short film series has been officially launched across several domestic and international academic innovation networks, digital art platforms, and global technology creator communities. Rhyma's New Luxury Album "Afro Noir" Aims To Reshape African Urban Music
Six songs made the final cut: "You Know," "Dreams," "It's Alright," "Locked In," "4Eva," and "Afro Noir." They go after the messier side of feeling things, and the idea driving them is simple enough: even mixed-up emotions can land as a melody people remember. Rhyma builds songs the way an architect builds a room piece by piece, with a plan. Whatever he's working on, it gets made with intention and a fair amount of raw nerve. Dark tones, uplifting rhythm, and the goal is to hit listeners in the body and the chest at once. Music, to Rhyma, is the language that gets him closest to his audience without a translator. A scar becomes a lyric. A lyric becomes a story somebody else recognizes. The whole record leans on contrast: dark moods sitting right next to genuine optimism, with one rule underneath all of it the darker the night gets, the louder the music should answer back. That tension is basically the engine behind the luxury sound he's getting known for overseas. Fela Kuti, Brenda Fassie, Bob Marley those are the names Rhyma points to when asked where the sound comes from, and he's been building on that since going solo in 2014. He started out singing with the a cappella group Soul Healers before striking out on his own, and the through-line since then has been love, ambition, and freedom, in roughly that order. His back catalog isn't small: the 2019 debut "Fly With You," the 2020 EP "Ambition," and 2025's "Vibes on Vibes." Then came "Medusa" earlier this year, a left turn into 3-Step made with Sjijo and Jack Jakalas. " AFRO NOIR " is the next move, and it's less about a single song now and more about the bigger picture: global recognition, and a legacy built on mixing Afrobeats, Pop, Commercial House, and New Age into something that's distinctly his. ABOUT RHYMA Behind the stage name is Charlie Inyang, a Nigerian-born artist now based in Gauteng, South Africa. People know him for shaping what's become the new luxury sound in African urban music, and his range backs that up dynamic in some places, versatile in others. He mixes commercial sounds with traditional African rhythm, not as a gimmick but as the foundation of how he builds a listening experience. Everything points back to one focus: an emotionally rich, luxurious musical world, built out of stories that started out personal and ended up resonating with a lot more people than he probably expected.

Every photocard sold through POCA SPOT undergoes an in-house authenticity verification process, ensuring that only officially licensed genuine cards reach customers. Backed by proprietary grading expertise, the store provides a trustworthy environment for fans to shop with confidence. POCA SPOT also leverages data from POCAMARKET — Korea's largest photocard trading platform — to curate a selection of cards that reflect what fans are actually seeking and collecting. This Japanese market entry is built on the natural synergy with K Village, a leader in Korean language and culture education. As the number of Japanese learners motivated by K-POP and Korean dramas continues to grow, POCA SPOT has become a new touchpoint where fans can experience Korean culture up close. K Village, for its part, sees this as an opportunity to go beyond language instruction and offer students a way to actively enjoy Korean culture firsthand. The Mile High City's Rising Pop/R&B Artist Jaiel Shares a Soulful Love Letter of Letting Go in Her New Single, "Take Care"
Today, singer-songwriter Jaiel officially released her new single " Take Care. " Released via Little Light Records , the track serves as the first official look into her forthcoming debut album, The Blooming Hearts Club . For listeners putting on the record, the song is paired with an audio piece called " The Prologue ," with the two tracks rolling straight into each other without a single moment of hesitation. In " The Prologue ," Jaiel delivers a soul-baring spoken-word piece detailing her personal experiences over the last years. A period defined by love, uncertainty, trials, and the messy bits of growing up. It sets a grounded, intimate mood before the warm rhythm and blues groove of the main single kicks in. In 2020, Jaiel wrote " Take Care " with her brother, Adiel L. Mitchell and producer Callum Bair, while she was still happily in a relationship. The track sat untouched on a hard drive until a painful separation forced her to revisit the archive. “ At the time life was going well, I was happily in my relationship, family and work were going well and I was just writing what sounded cool, ” Jaiel explains. “ It wasn’t until my life completely flipped upside down - my relationship ended, my family fell apart, I lost jobs and friends, just so much trauma and grief - that I re‑heard the song and it clicked. Oh, this is telling my story .” Because she ended up living out the exact words she penned years prior, her performance carries a deep, authentic weight. Co-produced by Jaiel and Merch (AME Industries/Dreamspace Studios), " Take Care " features warm bass lines and guitar work by David Musante , deep keys from Dominick Williams , and heartfelt organ textures that gives the arrangement a solid, church-like foundation . Instead of centering the pain of loss, Jaiel uses it as a pathway toward healing, transforming grief into a meditation on acceptance, compassion, and the power of moving forward. Her vocal arrangements are meticulously layered and choral, a deliberate nod to classic doo-wop harmonies and her love for the muses in Disney's Hercules. The technical execution is polished, with mixing handled by multi-platinum and Emmy-nominated Daniela Rivera (Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey) and mastering by Grammy Award winner Anna Frick (Billy Strings, Wood & Wire, Justin Moses), allowing every vocal layer to come through with exceptional clarity and warmth. Building a career as a modern Pop/R&B artist in Denver comes with a specific set of challenges, given that Black residents make up only about 9% of the local population. In a state that is predominantly white, Jaiel has successfully established a dedicated, passionate home base. Her musical foundation is ironclad, rooted in the unmatched arts education that is in church before continuing through classical training, musical theater, and fronting local festival bands. She turned her original academic thesis project, Black Girl Songs , into a celebrated body of work that laid the groundwork for her sophisticated approach to storytelling and vocal production. This background allows her to seamlessly blend intricate choral arrangements with a natural pop sensibility that connects instantly with everyday people. " Take Care " offers a glimpse into a much larger visual and thematic narrative. Her debut 9-track album, The Blooming Hearts Club , drops on September 4th, timed perfectly with her birthday. The project acts as a coming-of-age story about a woman moving from grief into collective joy, power, and sisterhood. The accompanying music video, co-produced with House of Kodo (I Love You & I Am Going to Fix You) and inspired by the film A Ghost Story, mirrors this transition. The visual follows her character wandering through an empty house, processing her grief as the album's title is gradually revealed in the pages of her journal. “I want people to feel permission to let go, and to feel held in that process, ” she says. “ Because it’s a really tough process. But you have to let go – pun intended – in order to bloom.” " Take Care " offers genuine companionship to anyone standing at the crossroads of a difficult release. Jaiel treats loss not as a destruction, but as a beautiful part of the process of growing into your fullest self. The track gives listeners permission to bid farewell, choose peace, and finally move forward. As this album rollout begins to unfold over the coming months, it will be interesting to see how many people find their own stories reflected in these chords. When a song from your past accurately outlines your future healing, how can you not believe that better days are ahead? "Take Care" is officially live worldwide. To secure tickets for Jaiel's upcoming live shows and join The Blooming Hearts Club community, visit : Official Website | Major Streaming Platforms | YouTube About Jaiel Jaiel is an independent pop, R&B, and soul singer-songwriter, dancer, and actress dedicated to creating purpose-driven music centered on female empowerment and community. Making history as the first Black woman to graduate with a music degree from Colorado College, her career highlights feature several major achievements, including a sold-out headlining debut at Denver’s Dazzle, which earned a BroadwayWorld nomination for Best Cabaret Performance, and a featured national performance during GRAMMY Week 2026 for the inaugural GrammyU SoundStage Festival. Her single "Sunshine Lovin'" gained thousands of streams on Spotify and received regular airplay on major Colorado radio stations like THE DROP 104.7 and Indie 102.3, while her cinematic music video for "Bet On Me" accumulated over 215,000 views and landed a spot on Vevo Incoming Pop. Ode to Civilization to Be Performed in Madrid - Harbin Original Symphony Celebrates Cultural Dialogue Between China and Spain
As the United Nations International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations approaches, the renowned Harbin Symphony Orchestra, which boasts a history spanning more than a century, has been invited by Spanish cultural institutions to present the large-scale symphonic concert Ode to Civilization on the evening of June 9 at the Teatro Gran Vía in Madrid, Spain. Under the theme “Dialogue Among Civilizations, Harmony Along the Silk Road Through Music,” the concert is jointly hosted by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Spain and the Harbin Municipal Government, with media support provided by Harbin Daily. More than a musical celebration, the event represents a meaningful exchange between Harbin—China’s renowned “City of Music”—and Madrid, fostering deeper cultural dialogue and mutual learning between civilizations. Harbin Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1908 and has a distinguished history spanning 118 years. Widely recognized as the first true symphony orchestra in China and the Far East, it has played a pioneering role in the development of symphonic music in the region. Over the past century, the orchestra has nurtured and inspired generations of outstanding musicians, including Xu Shuhui, former concertmaster of the China National Symphony Orchestra, and the internationally renowned conductor Helmut Stern, among many others. More than a witness to history, the Harbin Symphony Orchestra has served as a cultural ambassador promoting exchanges between China and the world. It has performed on some of the world's most prestigious stages, including Vienna’s Golden Hall of the Musikverein and the Salzburg Festival. Committed to becoming a leading orchestra in China, a major force in Asia, and a respected name on the international stage, the orchestra has earned widespread acclaim at home and abroad for its passionate yet refined artistic style. The centerpiece of the concert, Ode to Civilization, is a large-scale original symphonic work jointly commissioned by the Harbin Symphony Orchestra and ten other leading symphony orchestras across China. The composition was created over a period of eighteen months by renowned composer and conductor Wang Ning. The work was conceived in response to the United Nations General Assembly’s decision to designate June 10 as the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. It received its world premiere on June 10, 2025, in Harbin, China’s celebrated “City of Music.” Shortly after its debut, the work was honored as an Outstanding Symphonic Work at the Second National Awards for Outstanding Symphonic Works. Grand in scale and ambitious in conception, the symphony consists of five movements: Mutual Learning and Integration: Diversity in Harmony; From Pioneering Endeavors to the Rise of Civilization; Benevolence Across the World, Harmony Among Nations; Virtue Sustains All Things, Enduring Through Time; Rebirth and Renewal, Advancing Along the Common Path. Particularly noteworthy is the work’s incorporation of musical elements from more than twenty celebrated Chinese and international compositions, including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, the Chinese classic Spring Festival Overture, and Sibelius’s Finlandia. Through sophisticated compositional techniques, the symphony weaves together artistic motifs from different civilizations into a unified musical narrative. The result is a rare achievement in contemporary symphonic creation—one that vividly expresses the vision of a shared future for humanity, where civilizations respect their differences while flourishing together in mutual appreciation and harmony. When the rhythms of Harbin’s ice and snow meet the warmth of the Mediterranean through the music of Haydn and Beethoven, dialogue among civilizations finds one of its most eloquent expressions. This visit is not merely a musical performance on stage, but a comprehensive and multidimensional cultural exchange. During the tour, a Harbin Ice and Snow Culture Photo Exhibition will be presented alongside the concert. Beyond the concert hall, members of the orchestra will engage directly with local audiences through public square performances, street flash mobs, chamber music concerts, and small-scale instrumental performances, using music to transcend the boundaries of language and culture. During its stay in Madrid, the orchestra will visit the Teatro Real (Royal Opera of Madrid) to gain insights into the artistic and production processes behind opera performances. It will also meet with principal musicians of the RTVE Symphony Orchestra to exchange artistic experiences and explore opportunities for future collaboration between Chinese and Spanish musicians. In addition, discussions will be held with representatives of the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid and the Goethe-Institut Madrid on topics including international music competitions and joint talent-development programs. On the evening of June 9, the symphonic voice of China will resonate in Madrid. Music needs no translation; wherever it reaches, hearts find connection. Let us look forward to and witness this meaningful dialogue among civilizations spanning thousands of miles.

Your Invisible World L.L.C. UAP-UFO Music Innovation with “Fun” Space Alien Pyramid Dance Focus
Your Invisible World L.L.C. is thrilled to introduce a new concept on its growing music appeal by positioning itself as the only company in its category to combine UAP-UFO subject matter with contemporary music built for broad public engagement. Led by Bennie D’Agostino, the Cleveland-based company is continuing to develop its identity around music that blends melodic, pop, and dance elements with themes tied to space, UAP, Space Alien discussion, and growing curiosity about the unknown. According to the company, this latest announcement builds on the momentum of their last production Outer Space Mind 4 Humanity , which has been gaining attention. Rather than treating the release as a standalone track, Your Invisible World L.L.C. is framing it as part of a broader concept that includes album and singles activity, search visibility, and a more memorable public-facing presentation. Additionally, it also highlights the playful side of the brand through what the company describes as a fun tune centered on the “Sexy Space Alien Pyramid Dance,” adding another layer of audience connection to its evolving UAP-UFO music identity. Your Invisible World describes their music Outer Space Mind 4 Humanity as “UFO, UAP oriented for discovering Truth” and describes it as a “totally new approach” delivered through a thought provoking song with “no reason to fear.” The company creates a new genre in UFO UAP space music that is “positive and fun, but informative,” reinforcing the distinction it has consistently presented to make between its own work and the darker, fear-based tone often associated with older space-themed entertainment. That distinction remains central to the brand’s positioning. Where earlier generations often encountered UFO or alien-related themes through eerie soundtracks or sensationalized portrayals, Your Invisible World L.L.C. is producing something lighter on its feet and more contemporary in tone. In Harmony Music Offers "Happy Birthday Hits," Seven Genre-Spanning Versions of the World's Most Familiar Song, Driven by a Mother's Promise and Built to Move You
Happy Birthday song just got its first real upgrade in over a century. In Harmony Music , the Bay Area's early childhood music education program, releases “ Happy Birthday Hits ” today, a seven-track album that reimagines the world's most recognized song from the ground up. Each version has its own distinct taste: pop, hype, party, dance, kids, a cappella, and acoustic. Together, they make a case that Happy Birthday deserves better than the same tired melody sung off-key over flickering candles year after year. The album is produced by Justine Chadly and Tom Foote . They have been recording together for three years and writing music together for nearly a decade. In that time, they have produced over 100 original songs, all rooted in a shared conviction that music for children can be just as meaningful, moving, and beautifully crafted as music for any audience. " This is a certified banger! " said one thirteen-year-old upon hearing Happy Birthday (Hype) for the first time. The track, built on a KPop-inspired groove with a beat by Edmond Clare, commands movement and demands participation. It turns a gathering into a proper event, and there is nothing else quite like it in this space. The story behind “ Happy Birthday Hits ” runs deeper than any production trend. Justine founded In Harmony Music in 2003 after she could not find quality creative arts programs for her then-toddler son. He grew up to become a gifted musician and producer, making beats with well-known Bay Area artists, building a name for himself in a city that takes its music seriously. When he was taken by gun violence in December 2018, Justine made a promise to keep creating in his honor and spirit. “ Happy Birthday Hits ,” stacked with the modern, beat-driven sound he loved, marks what would have been his 25th birthday. " He is in every song I write ," she says quietly. That weight of purpose is present in every track, even the ones designed purely to make people move. The Dance version brings a slick, low-key groove in the style of Pink Pantheress. The Party version rides a soca beat that turns any kitchen into a dance floor in seconds. The A Cappella version leans into rich, layered harmonies. Happy Birthday (Kids) features children singing alongside the lead vocalists, giving young listeners a voice in their own celebration, something they can truly feel part of. And the Acoustic version, slower, warmer, and built around a beautiful original melody, turns a birthday into a genuine moment of reflection and connection. All seven tracks were engineered and mastered by Reto Peter at Teahouse Studios in Oakland, and reflect the same standard In Harmony Music has held since its founding. Strong musicianship, thoughtful production, and music that works for children and adults in the same room at the same time, without compromise. " The curriculum has allowed my son and me to connect with one another through rhythm and melody. And Justine's energy and enthusiasm are infectious. My son and I carry her energy home from class each week, leading to days and evenings filled with song and dance ." — In Harmony Music parent In Harmony Music has earned that trust over more than two decades. The program serves families across San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and Solano counties through family classes, school programs, and community events. They appeared on Netflix's Life After Death with Tyler Henry in 2022, have performed the national anthem at Oracle Park for the San Francisco Giants in 2024, and continue to expand their reach through the In Harmony Foundation , which uses music and mindfulness to support communities affected by gun violence and tragic loss. Work that extends far beyond the classroom. Happy Birthday is the one song every human being on earth has heard. Most of us have sung it more times than we can count. At kitchen tables, in school cafeterias, over candles we could barely blow out as children. It has always been about the person in front of you. What In Harmony Music has done with “ Happy Birthday Hits ” is, remind everyone that the song itself can carry that same weight and emotional depth. That a birthday can be a full-body event, a quiet tearful moment, a dance floor eruption, or all three at once. That is what great music does. And now, for the very first time, Happy Birthday can do it too.
