-- StreamRecorder.io, the automated stream recording platform supporting 11 major broadcasting services, has released a comprehensive streaming industry statistics report covering market data across Twitch, YouTube Live, TikTok Live, Kick, and six additional platforms. The report, available at streamrecorder.io/research, compiles over 65 individually sourced data points on platform market share, creator economics, esports viewership, and revenue trends.
The report arrives at a time of significant upheaval in the live streaming landscape. TikTok Live surpassed Twitch in total hours watched during Q1 2025, becoming the second largest platform behind YouTube Live. That shift represents the most consequential change in streaming platform hierarchy in over a decade, and it caught much of the industry off guard.
"I built StreamRecorder because I spent years watching people lose content they genuinely cared about across every major streaming platform," said Marc Burgum, founder of StreamRecorder.io. "When you work this close to the streaming world every single day, you start seeing patterns that most people outside of it completely miss."
Key findings from the 2026 report include:
YouTube Live maintains roughly 50% market share with 56 billion hours watched in 2025, though its share fell below the 50% threshold for the first time in Q3.
TikTok Live reached 35 billion hours watched in 2025, up from its Q4 2024 baseline, driven primarily by chat-based content, fashion streams, and mobile gaming rather than the traditional PC gaming category.
Twitch recorded 18 billion hours watched in 2025, a 10% year-over-year decline, dropping to third place overall. The platform still leads in gaming-specific content with 54% of that vertical.
Kick crossed 1 billion hours watched in a single quarter (Q2 2025), posting 112% year-over-year growth fueled by its 95/5 revenue split with creators.
The global live streaming market is valued between $78 billion and $100 billion in 2025, with projections ranging from $345 billion to $517 billion by the early 2030s.
Every statistic in the report links back to its original source, whether that is Streams Charts viewership data, Statista consumer research, or official platform disclosures. StreamRecorder.io does not rely on secondary aggregators or unsourced estimates. The data is reviewed and updated on a monthly cycle, with revision dates noted when figures change.
The report also includes embeddable stat cards and charts designed for journalists, bloggers, and researchers to reference with attribution. This reflects a broader strategy by StreamRecorder.io to serve not just as a recording tool but as a resource for the streaming community and the media covering it.
StreamRecorder.io currently supports automated recording across Twitch, Kick, TikTok, YouTube, AfreecaTV, Pandalive, FlexTV, Douyin, Bilibili, Twitcasting, and CHZZK. The platform hosts over 800,000 streamer profiles and offers both free and premium recording tiers.
